I won 2 auditions with it, it has a beautiful mellow tone, it is quite light and comfortable.
String Lenght: 105 cm.
Doesn't have a label but it is thought to be from 1910.
It's perfect for chamber music, solo and auditions; I wouldn't say is an orchestra bass, considering size.

I have a lot of recordings with this on youtube:

It's on the small side of 3/4, and would make an excellent student bass - it has taken previous owners all the way through postgraduate conservatoire study. It is also very lightweight which is an under-appreciated characteristic when gigging/studying in London!

It has variously been looked after by Roger Dawson and Laurence Dixon over the years, with a fairly new adjustable bridge from Laurence. Currently has some Evah Pirazzi Weich strings but I can also give you some old Belcanto solo strings if you wish - this bass sounds incredible in solo tuning.

The neck was broken by British Airways around 2010 and was repaired by Sam Wells when he was working with Roger - you can see the very substantial dowel in the fingerboard. The price reflects this repair.

Romania, 2014

This is a large 7/8ths bass made by Calin Wulter in 2014. It plays evenly throughout and has a very powerful resonate sound especially in the lower range. It is fitted with a removable C Extension with capos by Ben Taylor who has also done all the set up work on this bass.

Although it has been primarily my practice bass, I have used it at work with the BSO where it has been remarked that it blends and keeps up with the section.

This bass would be perfect as a primary instrument for a student or recent graduate. Additionally it would be a great practice bass for professionals who have a bass that lives at work or those who want a durable good sounding bass for tours.

String length: 41.5 in or 105.4 cm

Tim Batchelar in Leicester fitted bridge adjusters and an excellent endpin, and I added Eva weich strings and a better cover. The bass also has high quality leather edge protectors.

I've had a David Gage lifeline on the bass and it sounds very good for jazz. You can see a successful repair to a little hole of unknown cause but the bass has like all my working instruments been handled with care.
