You will work with the Big Noise team to deliver excellent musical education and learning experiences for our children, young people and communities; this will include instrumental lessons, general musicianship sessions, and group teaching in our afterschool programme, as well as home visits and community performances.  Wherever possible, we will match your musical skills and interests with the different elements of the Big Noise programme, while encouraging and supporting you to develop in other areas.  &#13;

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification and have professional performing experience. Working with large and varied groups of children and young people is essential, along with a track record of success in teaching children and young people on your specialist instrument. We have two Musician/Teacher (Upper Strings) vacancies, as follows:&#13;

The Open Bar festival and master course will take place 13.07 – 22.07 2026 in the city of Bar, Montenegro. &#13;

The extensive programme of concerts by some of the finest international musicians will be supplemented by master course for violin, viola, cello, piano, composition, chamber ensemble and quartet. The courses are open to musicians of all ages. The intensive 10 days course will include  four one-to-one lessons (open to the public) and participation in student concerts. &#13;
&#13;
The participants will have the possibility to attend the concerts performed by the teachers and, if selected after video-audition, participate themselves at one or more of the festival’s concerts.&#13;

Fellows perform with the orchestra, receiving professional training and experience on stage and in the pit. Fellows dedicate much of their time as a string quartet, presenting to local students in the classroom, and performing on the COT's various series.&#13;
&#13;
The primary objectives of the Durham Fellowships are to:&#13;
1. Deepen The COT’s local engagement across generations, from elementary schools to retirement communities; and&#13;
2. Provide young professional musicians with the artistic, financial, and administrative support needed for them to confidently take the next steps into the professional world.&#13;
&#13;
Details:&#13;
- 2 year contract with option for 3rd year renewal&#13;
- 9 month season (September - May)&#13;
- Residency in Durham is required during the season&#13;

Programmatic Components:&#13;
- Partake in all COT orchestral performances both on stage and in the pit&#13;
- Receive intensive guidance in preparation and performance from COT Resident and Guest Soloists&#13;

- Fellows form a string quartet that will headline The COT’s weekly elementary education program Da Capo&#13;
- Work with COT Education Coordinator to create and present community engagement and educational content&#13;
- Perform as a quartet on the UpClose Chamber Music Series and BEERthoven Series&#13;
- participate in personal growth and professional development activities&#13;
- Assist COT staff with various administrative tasks when needed&#13;
