The competition offers winners the opportunity to debut as the protagonists of a different opera each year. For the 2026 edition, the title chosen is "La Traviata," an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. The roles in the competition are Violetta Valéry, Alfredo Germont, Giorgio Germont, Annina, Doctor Grenvil, Flora Bervoix, Gastone, Duphol, and Marquis d'Obigny. You will have individual singing lessons and musical interpretation for your roles and audition repertoire with coaches from both the Academy of Music and Drama and from the Göteborg Opera. You work individually with role interpretation with an opera director, and you have group lessons in dance and movement. Together with other opera students, you also participate in masterclasses, and sometimes you will be offered a role in one of the academy's opera productions.&#13;

The course is examined through a public staged concert, or in an opera production.
