Founded in 1988, Glyndebourne's Archive safeguards and champions the company's rich artistic, organisational and cultural heritage. Its collections encompass a wide range of historical records and mixed-media objects, including designs, artworks, props, costumes, programmes and photography, offering a unique record of Glyndebourne's history and creative life. The Archive is part of the Art &amp; Collections department, which connects audiences with Glyndebourne's legacy through exhibitions, the commissioning of new artworks, and a programme of talks, events and collaborative projects. Recent partnerships have included working with the National Trust, V&amp;A and the Royal College of Music, and with world-renowned artists including Lubaina Himid, William Kentridge, Maggi Hambling and Conrad Shawcross.&#13;
As Archivist, you will play a central role in safeguarding and championing these collections while ensuring they remain accessible and relevant to a wide range of audiences. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will facilitate access to archival material to support artistic, operational and strategic priorities. You will also enable researchers, writers, journalists and members of the public to engage with the Archive, maximising opportunities for learning and public engagement through displays, talks, filming and press activity. The role requires you to develop an in-depth knowledge of the collections and Glyndebourne's history, while building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders across the UK and internationally to enhance the Archive's profile and impact.&#13;

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:&#13;

Under direction of the Music Planning Manager, assist with research pertaining to cuts, editions, and banda, as well as other music administration projects as needed.&#13;
Under direction of the Music Planning Manager, create supertitle scripts and cueing scores.&#13;
Undertake detailed score preparation and editing projects for company use.&#13;
Coordinate Company keyboard needs.&#13;
Oversee, maintain, and administer a growing music library collection, both physical and digital, including piano/vocal scores, art song collections, vocal excerpts, reference and research books, audio/visual materials, and supertitle scripts and cueing scores.&#13;
Acquire, create, distribute, and track production materials for the company, including audio/visual materials, scores, and libretti of current and upcoming productions.&#13;
Maintain a digital/online catalogue of all above-mentioned materials for use of the company.&#13;
Work with Archives Department to maintain archival audio/video collection of SFO performances and rehearsals.&#13;
Maintain stock of music-related office supplies such as score-quality paper and binding materials.&#13;
Make audio/visual materials, including AppleTV units, available for artists and staff.&#13;
Maintain library materials of all descriptions; repair and bind materials, re-file them each day; keep inventory.&#13;
Assist company members and visiting artists in locating requested materials. Track materials taken out of the library.&#13;

About the role &#13;
The MSO’s Principal Librarian is a unique role, responsible for the procurement and preparation of all scores and parts for the MSO’s orchestral activities and managing the permanent and casual library staff. &#13;
&#13;
Requiring a broad knowledge of relevant repertoire, this position also is essential in providing services and advice to a range of stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the MSO’s performance, including orchestra management and operations personnel.  &#13;

The successful applicant will possess the following:&#13;

Education and Qualifications&#13;
•	Relevant tertiary qualifications in music, arts management, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.&#13;
•	Deep knowledge of orchestral/chamber music repertoire and performance practices.&#13;
&#13;
Knowledge and Demonstrated Experience&#13;
•	Proven experience in working with an orchestra in a similar position&#13;
•	Demonstrated confidence and deep specialist knowledge of orchestral repertoire&#13;
•	Ability to read scores and interpret them in terms of orchestral requirements &#13;
•	Ability to engage with musicians and internal teams in a customer service oriented and accessible way&#13;
•	Broad knowledge of library procedures and copyright processes &#13;
•	Experience working with iPads in an Orchestra Library setting&#13;
•	Familiarity with publishers and music providers in Australia and abroad &#13;
•	Excellent computer literacy, including music notation and sound editing programs&#13;
