It is based on a Guarneri del Jesu of Cremona 1734 'The Rhode.'

Note of interest - this was a gift from my father who happened to be an exceptional negotiator. Whilst the price sought back in 2006 was £5000, my father managed to lower the price to £4250. It has been my very own red violin for 20 years and I have loved playing it ever since.

I have recently inherited a second violin which, whilst not so striking or powerful in sound, is perfectly adequate for my weekly amateur orchestral playing whilst I now focus on developing my cello playing.

13th Blue-T Concerto Competition – Violin & Other Instruments

For most violinists, performing a concerto with a full orchestra is rare. Targeted at violinists, the scheme provides experience in chamber orchestral playing for those developing a portfolio chamber career.
“I can honestly say that being an Associate Fellow of ASMF has been one of the highlights of my musical journey to date. Arriving into my first rehearsal with them back in February, I very quickly realised that this is not just an orchestra, but a family. They are so warm and welcoming, and are the perfect example of a player-led ensemble. They take such pride in their work, and there is a sense that everyone feels an equal responsibility for the music.”
Associate Fellowship Scheme
The Associate Fellowship Scheme is designed to give players who are establishing their professional career a paid opportunity to rehearse and perform with ASMF, and receive bespoke coaching and mentorship from its players.
The scheme offers two violinists the opportunity to participate in a programme across our upcoming season (November 2026 – June 2027).

opportunity to rehearse and perform with ASMF on 2 x projects, with performances at St-Martin-in-the-Fields

opportunity to sit-in the orchestra during rehearsals with ASMF's Music Director Joshua Bell
opportunities for 1-1 mentoring and coaching from ASMF players
