The chamber music festival in Olsberg and Rheinfelden in the canton of Aargau has been an integral part of cellist Sol Gabetta's annual schedule since her international breakthrough in the early 2000s. The annual program and focus of the festival are based on Sol Gabetta's artistic priorities and goals. As the cellist is particularly keen to provide a platform for the next generation of artists, the Solsberg Young Artists format has been added to previous editions alongside exciting, annually changing constellations of artists. This program for young talent enables her and the audience to get to know promising personalities at the beginning of their careers. Her latest project, the Solsberg Academy, should also be understood in this sense. Sol Gabetta has invited her long-time teacher Ivan Monighetti to the first Solsberg Academy. H. Pfretzschner, with authenticity certificate

From my private collection, thus ~20% below avg. retail prices: fine cello master bow in very good condition, made by Richard Hermann PFRETZSCHNER (1887─1958), eldest son of Hermann Richard PFRETZSCHNER, with excellent playing characteristics ─ high tension, and a rounded, powerful tone. What makes this bow particularly rare is the special type of pin Richard chose to fix the heelplate next to the pearl slide.

■ total length: 712 mm
■ length of stick: 696 mm

Richard learned his craft in his father's workshop. In 1914, he and his brother took over the workshop and successfully led it through wars and economic crisis. As for wood quality, craftsmanship and playing properties, the workshop's best bows from the takeover until the 1960s are on a par with their father's works.
