IMPORTANT INFO FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS:

To substitute with the New World Symphony (NWS), you must already be authorized to work in the United States (e.g., Green Card, O-1 visa, or F-1 with CPT/OPT authorized by your school). NWS does not petition visas for substitute work.

Video Requirements:
• 2–3 minutes of a solo work (or exposition of a standard concerto/sonata)
• Four contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choice

Excerpts do not need to be selected from NWS’ posted fellowship repertoire lists. (Those lists apply to fellowship applicants only.) Some instruments have specific requirements—see Acceptd for details.

Results and further information will be emailed as soon as possible after submission. If invited to join the substitute list, status remains active for 12 months from the date of notification.

NWS limits the size of its substitute pool. Substitute musicians may be engaged to augment the orchestra for larger repertoire or to cover absences during the season. When engaged, NWS provides airfare, housing (if needed), and a stipend. Musicians are responsible for ensuring availability and securing any necessary institutional approvals if currently enrolled in school.

New York Carnegie Hall debut!

GOLDEN CLASSICAL MUSIC AWARDS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

This year, Summer School combines four courses:

· The Orchestral Course
· The Piano Course
· The Singing and Performance Course
· The Jazz and Improvisation Course

Students will experience singing, musicianship and ensemble music-playing, with performances at our professional concert venue, Stoller Hall. After the music stops each evening, stay in our purpose-built boarding facilities, with plenty of fun activities, games, and shared experiences with Chetham’s caring team of staff.

Fully funded places are available for those who need support.
