We offer the opportunity to work in a high-level professional big band that is one of the leading jazz orchestras in Europe.&#13;

We are looking for a motivated and versatile musician with a strong interest in big band music. The position requires excellent skills on both bass trombone and tenor trombone, as well as readiness to improvise. However, in the audition evaluation, we will place emphasis on written excerpts and ensemble playing skills. The working language of the orchestra is Finnish; however, Finnish language skills are not required at the application stage. A sufficient level of English is required for the position.&#13;
&#13;
The application deadline is Sunday, 24 May 2026 at 23:59 (UTC+2). Applications must be submitted via Muvac. Based on the applications, selected candidates will be invited to the live audition. Invitations will be sent by 15 June 2026, and the audition materials will be provided at the same time.&#13;

The position-specific salary is €3,012.76 per month (effective from 1 January 2027), in accordance with the collective agreement for UMO musicians. Qualifications&#13;

RNCM students perform in the broadest range of ensembles, exploring music from all corners of the repertoire and plenty of brand-new works too. Each season, The Respighi Prize offers Winners in Composition a World Premiere at Carnegie Hall, and Winners in Performance (including Pianoforte, Orchestral Instruments, and Voices) and Conducting their Carnegie Hall Debut. (Conductors are vetted directly through our New York Conducting Workshop &amp; Respighi Competition.) &#13;

Across three high-stakes rounds, this career-launching competition will uncover Australia's most exceptional young instrumentalists, culminating in a spectacular grand final performance at the Sydney Opera House, which will be televised on ABC TV and broadcast on ABC Classic.&#13;
&#13;
In Round 1, applicants will submit video performances that will be presented to our adjudication panel. 12 semi-finalists will progress to Round 2, which will take place as live performances across several Australian capital cities. From the 12 semi-finalists, three will be selected to perform a concerto with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the grand final in November 2026.&#13;
&#13;
There are significant cash prizes on offer for all three finalists, plus recording and performance opportunities for the winner.&#13;

Applications are open to Australian instrumental musicians aged 31 and under. Entry is free.&#13;
