Long orchestral tradition, typical bohemian sound and progressive repertoire are very much praised both by local audience and international reviewers. Excellence in performing not only Janáček, but most of the late-romantic to contemporary repertoire is one of the orchestra‘s strengths.

In 2026/27 season the orchestra hosts conductors such as the chief conductor Daniel Raiskin and guest conductors Andris Poga, Andrey Boreyko, Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, Aziz Shokakhimov and Jiří Habart and soloists such as Alena Baeva, Magdalena Kožená, Jan Lisiecki, Johannes Moser, Anna Vinnitskaya and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.

The International Orchestral Academy (IOA) is suitable especially for students and graduates of music performance programmes at university level. The internship is unpaid and therefore highly suitable for Erasmus+ recipients. All academy members are responsible for securing themselves to cover all costs of their stay, such as travel expenses to/from Ostrava, accommodation for the whole period of stay, per diems, insurance, concert clothing, etc.

Trainees will gain hands-on orchestral experience in one of the leading Czech orchestras, taking part in most of the orchestra performances (subscription concerts, touring projects both locally and internationally). Trainees shall receive mentoring by the principal players of the orchestra.

IOA opens positions in the following sections for the fall semester of the season 2026/27:
FLUTE, OBOE, CLARINET, BASSOON

winter semester: 7th September 2026 – 28th January 2027.

The work will focus on the technical analysis of certain works for the instruments concerned, as well as on a “tactile” approach to sound: a lively and concrete reflection on the relationship between instruments, performers and composers, understood as a terrain of mutual discovery. This dialogue between composers and performers will become the main driving force behind the experience, leaving ample room for experimentation and the collective construction of the path. Contemporary repertoire will serve as the privileged testing ground for delving into the characteristics of these instruments, also including English Horn, Oboe d’Amore, Basset Horn
and Bass Clarinet, analysing how to move from one instrument to the other while maintaining their distinctiveness, and at the same time encouraging multiple approaches and possibilities.

The mechanism is in perfect working order, the wood is stable, and the instrument is ready to play.

I am selling it simply because I no longer play, and it would be a shame to keep such a beautiful instrument unused. It deserves to be played and enjoyed.

The clarinet is available for personal trial in Prague or Plzeň (Czech Republic).
