Two works from the standard repertoire, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, will be rehearsed & performed in Italian, in fully-staged & costumed productions. Eight conductors work with State Opera Stara Zagora's orchestra, choir, vocal soloists, and pianists, coached by Maestri Vladimir Boshnakov and Anthony Armore. Each conductor will conduct 1/4 of one of the operas in performance and have podium time with: orchestra and choir alone; cast & piano; stage rehearsals; & Sitzproben (soloists and choir onstage with orchestra in the pit), as well a dress rehearsal and performance. Here you learn to conduct by listening, to lead with respect, to create while honouring each voice. More than training, it’s a vision. More than technique, it’s an artistic conscience. Because conducting is not just a gesture: it is responsibility, an act of the soul. The peculiarity of this school consists of theoretical and practical lessons which exclusively involve the presence of the orchestra and not the use of the pianos. The lessons are divided into different orchestral groups: string orchestra, chamber orchestra and symphony orchestra.
