Successful applicants will be offered an in-person audition which will be held at the Philharmonia Offices, London [SE1]. The auditions will predominately take place on 13 &amp; 14 July, with 17 July being subject to requirement. The audition day will comprise of auditions between 10am and 3pm, followed by chamber music for selected candidates from 3.30pm until 5pm. Upon request, video auditions may be offered as a substitute for applicants who for financial, geographical, or accessibility reasons cannot attend an audition in the UK on these dates.&#13;

In advance of being offered an in-person audition the Panel may request candidates to submit a pre-audition video, consisting of selected excerpts as specified below. These candidates will be notified by 3 June and will have until 17 June to submit the video. Any candidate who feels that their initial application would be supported by this video may include it with their application. Candidates will less relevant experience are strongly encouraged to use this option.&#13;

An orchestral Cadet position (formerly known as Fellowship position) is a student position aimed at helping promising musicians transition into full-time employment as professional musicians.&#13;
&#13;
It includes significant playing opportunity in the orchestra as tutti player, as well as weekly lessons with a suitably qualified teacher. In addition to semesterly assessments, the candidate is encouraged to apply for vacant positions as and when they are confident to do so, and to pursue further formal studies and professional development. &#13;
&#13;
Cadet positions are offered for no more than three years consecutively and are open to South African citizens or international candidates who have a South African general work visa.&#13;
&#13;
The application process is two-fold. First, applicants must send a detailed CV, ID copy and video recording of one of the solo pieces listed in the audition requirements. This should be sent to auditions@kznphil.org.za. &#13;

The deadline for receipt of this material is 14 June 2026. Such recording may be uploaded to Youtube, Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar.&#13;

Formerly the Youth Instrumental Music Competition (est. 1983), this event invites talented U.S. instrumentalists in grades 8–12 to showcase their artistry, perform with a professional orchestra, and compete for scholarships up to $5,000.&#13;

Applicants must submit a video audition by May 15, 2026 and pay the $50.00 registration fee. A panel will select 3–5 finalists to perform live with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra on July 16, 2026, at the Barshinger Center, Franklin &amp; Marshall College.
