The ideal candidate will have extensive professional orchestral experience and outstanding leadership abilities, combined with the highest level of technical and musical excellence and a collaborative spirit.&#13;
The CBSO works approximately 190 days a year and seeks to employ one of two leaders. The two leaders will undertake the responsibility of leading the orchestra for approximately 75 days each per year, with the Associate Leader (No.2) usually leading several concerts during the year, and the Assistant Leader (No.3) leading on occasion. The allocation of work for both leaders each season is organised by the Orchestra Manager/Director of Artistic Planning and the Director of Orchestra operations. This job requires travelling throughout the UK and touring overseas as well as evening and weekend work. Whilst this position does not require that you work exclusively for the CBSO, it is expected that the Orchestra will have first call on your availability.&#13;
The role of the leader is to lead, motivate and inspire the Orchestra and First Violin Section. They must have excellent solo and orchestral playing abilities and are responsible for maintaining the highest musical standards required by the CBSO. They will share responsibility with section leaders and the management team to support effective people management, development, diversity, inclusion and belonging.&#13;

Situated in four schools in north and west Belfast, the project aims to deliver weekly workshops with P1-P3 classes to develop fundamental music skills and progress to learning orchestral instruments from P4-P7.&#13;

Effective from September 2026, we are seeking an experienced and engaging Violin Teacher to join the Strings department. Its mission is the training of strings players of the highest order, supporting them in realising their full potential and encouraging them to be versatile, creative and professional. The hours will be subject to confirmation of student numbers.&#13;
You will have a recognised profile as an international performer with a thorough knowledge of Violin repertoire. You will be able to advise, mentor and support students in managing their career aspirations and developing their professionalism, along with previous experience of teaching in a conservatoire environment. You will possess technical expertise and excellent communication skills. You will also need to be flexible, practical, collaborative and well organised.&#13;

A small, intensive chamber music course for experienced amateur string players (violin, viola, cello, double bass), set in a beautiful rural retreat in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.&#13;
Format: Up to three groups work with a dedicated professional tutor over the weekend, with a performance opportunity on Sunday morning. The course runs Friday 10am to Sunday 12pm.&#13;
Repertoire: Preformed groups are welcome to bring their own chosen repertoire. Individual players may also apply and will be placed into groups.&#13;
Faculty: Tutors are professional musicians trained at leading UK conservatoires, active with major British and European orchestras and ensembles, and teaching at UK music colleges.&#13;

Parallel to the competition, the Polstjärnepriset course is being held, which is open to musicians aged 14-20 from the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe.&#13;
&#13;
Polstjärnepriset is divided into two periods. From 28 October to 1 November 2026, everyone will meet to prepare for the competition, have lessons, and play together in various chamber music groups and orchestras. Right at the start of January, the competition itself takes place, with the final alongside the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra at the Gothenburg Concert Hall on 5 January. Polstjärnepriset ends with a final concert on 6 January.&#13;

No participation fees, but you pay accommodation and travels yourself.&#13;
&#13;
You have until 15 June 2026 to apply for the competition and until 18 August to apply to the course.
