Two works from the standard repertoire, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, will be rehearsed & performed in Italian, in fully-staged & costumed productions. Eight conductors work with State Opera Stara Zagora's orchestra, choir, vocal soloists, and pianists, coached by Maestri Vladimir Boshnakov and Anthony Armore. Each conductor will conduct 1/4 of one of the operas in performance and have podium time with: orchestra and choir alone; cast & piano; stage rehearsals; & Sitzproben (soloists and choir onstage with orchestra in the pit), as well a dress rehearsal and performance. Besides their performance assignment, conductors have rehearsal time with the 2nd opera. Probably the best training in opera conducting in the world!
