It comes with a soft case and bow Which alone would cost over £200 if you wanted to buy this bass, the case, bow, pickup, strings, and get it setup, it would cost you over £1,800 now. The bass is made in China but assembled in Germany. please let me know if you’d like to play the bass first, I can happily arrange that. I can travel to drop the bass off if needed too, but also happy for collection. According to the label, it is an instrument from the renowned Neuner&Hornsteiner workshop, dating from 1905 and in its original condition (solid-wood construction, arched back, beautiful original veneer). The instrument has been completely overhauled (opened up, cleaned, new neck and ebony fingerboard/nut, bridge, and tailpiece). It was then optimally adjusted for playability and tone by my bass doctor. The result is an instrument that is very comfortable to play (D-scale 104.5 cm, body 109 cm, upper/lower curve 49 cm/63 cm), which has plenty of power and surprising depth for its size. Thanks to its slim neck, this double bass is also ideally suited for electric bassists! The asking price is CHF 6,400, including a bag. Unfortunately, the corner of the label has been lost but it read Wm. Fletcher. I believe William Fletcher to have been a skilled wood worker/craftsman but not a professional northern English double bass maker. His approach to making a double bass seems to be influenced by many European styles and a few of his own. I believe this to be the only one made by this particular individual or the only one that's survived. It has a one-piece Poplar carved back, tightly flamed maple ribs and a nice quality carved spruce front. Both front and back have a distinctive, single strand of maple purfling. Ebony fingerboard/tailpiece, Evah Pirazzi strings, adjustable bridge, and German half plate machines.
