Visiting Head of Saxophone

The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Woodwind Department seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Saxophone to join our dedicated team of Visiting Tutors.
Beginning in April 2026, the successful candidate will build on our current provision for saxophone. They will bring a clear vision for future developments, ensuring that, under their leadership, the Department continues to offer top-class training which prepares RBC’s saxophonists for their professional lives. The postholder will play a crucial role in recruitment of both undergraduate and postgraduate saxophonists, and take an active role in outreach activities. They will also provide one-to-one Principal Study tuition, coach chamber groups and organise masterclasses and events for the department.
The role, which is overseen by the Head of Woodwind, is hourly paid: teaching is currently paid at £52.89 per hour, and the postholder will receive an allocation of hours at £28.80 per hour for administration and other activities relating to their leadership of the area. It would typically involve 2 days in Birmingham per week in term time.
