Emerging Artist - Wigs Trainee
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (1 year), Monday 15 September 2025 – Sunday 13 September 2026
Location: Edington Street Production Studios and other venues as required
Salary: £26,587.15 per annum

Scottish Opera’s Costume and Wigs Department is offering a trainee position to an enthusiastic person with qualifications in theatrical and media Hair and Make - Up, or experience of working in theatre Wigs department.
This position is part of our Emerging Artists programme. The successful candidate will receive training from our senior staff, and will gain practical experience in all areas of the company’s Wigs, Hair and Make - Up department:
-Repair and maintenance of full lace human hair wigs and facial.
-Learning basic knotting and weft techniques.
-Development of period make-up and hair techniques.
-Development of SFX techniques including bald caps.
-Wigs Supervision including building and budgeting for a small Scottish Opera production.
-Touring with large scale Scottish Opera productions.
The contract is based at Scottish Opera’s Production Studios at Edington Street, at the Theatre Royal Glasgow, and on tour with the company.
