Lead the Future of Music in West Texas!
The West Texas Symphony (WTS) is seeking an innovative, relationship-driven Executive Director to help shape the next chapter of one of the region's most respected arts organizations.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic leader to partner with dedicated musicians, engaged volunteers, generous supporters, and an active Board of Directors to advance artistic excellence, expand community impact, and strengthen the Symphony's financial future.
Serving the growing Midland/Odessa region, WTS encompasses a professional orchestra, three resident chamber ensembles, an adult chorale, a youth choir, and one of the most robust music education programs in West Texas, reaching thousands of students and audience members each year.
Location: Midland/Odessa, Texas
Position: Full-Time, On-Site
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
What You'll Do
As Executive Director, you will serve as the Symphony's chief executive and community ambassador, providing leadership in:
• Strategic vision and organizational growth
• Fundraising, major donor cultivation, corporate giving, and sponsorship development
• Financial stewardship, budgeting, and operational management
• Community engagement and relationship building throughout the Permian Basin
• Marketing, audience development, and patron experience
• Support for music education initiatives and community partnerships
• Collaboration with the Music Director, Board of Directors, and artistic leadership
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated success in nonprofit, arts, or related organizational leadership
• Proven achievement in fundraising, donor engagement, and corporate partnership development
• Strong financial management and organizational leadership skills
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and public-facing abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in orchestra, performing arts, or cultural organization management
• Knowledge of music education and youth programming
• Experience with grant writing and foundation relations
• Familiarity with concert production, event management, or arts operations
