Audition for chorus positions – Alto 1, Alto 2
(full-time, permanent)
Malmö Opera is seeking new colleagues for its professional 36-member chorus and invites applications for two full-time permanent positions: Alto 1 and Alto 2. The chorus performs opera, music drama, and concerts at the highest international level. We are looking for singers who contribute with musical excellence, curiosity, professionalism, and strong collaborative skills.
Qualifications:
• Higher education in singing
• Experience in opera, musical theatre, and concert repertoire as both soloist and chorister
• Strong sight-reading ability, good language skills, and the capacity to memorise music quickly
• Solid acting ability and stage experience
Application:
Applicants must submit a recording (not older than two years) of an aria or lied with piano or orchestral accompaniment. Based on these recordings, selected candidates will be invited to the audition.
Audition:
The audition will take place on 4–5 February 2026 at Malmö Opera, Sweden. Candidates prepare one compulsory aria (based on voice type), two contrasting memorised pieces in different languages, and provided chorus excerpts (not from memory). The process includes two rounds and may be followed by an interview.
Employment:
The position starts on 27 July 2026 (or as agreed) and is permanent with a one-year trial period. Non-EU applicants (except Nordic citizens) require a work and residence permit.
Applications must be submitted by 19 December 2025. Invitations to the audition will be sent no later than 5 January 2026.
