Great violin by award-winning Australian luthier, Simon Brown.
Belly: 2 pieces of book-matched, fine-medium-grained pine;
Back: 2 pieces of book-matched well figured maple - the flame set horizontally;
Sides: of a stronger figure;
Neck and head of lightly flamed maple.
Fittings of maple with geometric inlay.
Ebony pegs.
Black/white/black purfling front and back.
Varnish is an oil mixture with earth pigments, golden orange in cover with a yellow ground. Some softening of
the varnish is apparent in the lower bass bout.
No visible cracking or damage - fully playable condition.
