Associate Professor of Music History

The Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) educates musicians, composers, conductors, piano tuners, music educators, and music therapists at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Music History at NMH bridges the gap between music comprehension and music performance. NMH is seeking an associate professor with extensive expertise in music history.

The vacancy is a permanent, 50 percent position available from 1st of August 2025.

The field of the position is music history, with a focus on historical or contemporary performance practices.
Responsibilities include teaching and supervision of students, artistic and scientific research, and administrative tasks related to the academic activities. The appointee is expected to actively engage in academic collaboration with colleagues and to contribute to strengthening the academic environment at the institution.
