Royal College of Music
Library Assistant
(a tiempo parcial)
Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2024 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the three successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings this year.
The RCM is recruiting a part-time (0.6 FTE) Library Assistant. This is a part-time permanent post in the RCM Library. The library is open Mondays to Saturdays and all staff work on a shift basis determined by the Librarian across those days.
The successful candidate’s main responsibilities include administering copyright and synchronisation rights for College recordings, dealing with user requests (including work on the circulation and enquiry desk) and stock work. The post holder is expected to deliver a high-quality customer service as part of the wider library team.
The successful candidate will have:
• A good knowledge of music (including repertoire and music history) and copyright.
• An understanding of the needs of the staff and students in a busy conservatoire is important, as is flexibility in organising varying strands of work, often under pressure.
