The Colin Metters International Conducting Retreat

The International Conducting Academy is delighted to announce The Colin Metters International Conducting Retreat, a new week-long residential course at The King's School Canterbury designed to offer conductors the time and space for deeper reflection, score study, discussion, and artistic development rarely possible within traditional conducting courses.

Led by Colin Metters alongside Jonathan Mann, the retreat combines detailed work with pianists Hamish Brown and Iain Clarke with later sessions alongside a professional string sextet formed by players from major orchestras.

Set within the historic surroundings of Canterbury, the retreat offers a relaxed yet immersive environment centred around conducting, conversation, collaboration, and shared musical exploration.

Repertoire includes Wagner (Meistersinger excerpts), Schumann Symphony No. 2, and Stravinsky’s Petrushka.
