Conducting 4 - Week Intensive Paris, France

The versatile conductor and noted pedagogue Mark Shapiro leads a 4-week conducting intensive with the EAMA Summer Music Institute at the historic Schola Cantorum: July 1-26, '24. Ideal for early and mid-career conductors seeking intensive training and growth in musicianship as it applies to conducting. Conducting opportunities include sessions with professional chamber ensemble, resident string quintet, and the EAMA chorale. Students take conducting seminars (two pianos), private lessons, and EAMA’s core curriculum of counterpoint, keyboard harmony, musicianship (including score reading) and analysis. Shapiro is Conductor Emeritus of The Prince Edward Island Symphony, Principal Conductor of The Marshall Concert Opera, and Music Director of The Cecilia Chorus of New York and Cantori New York. He teaches conducting at The Juilliard School, the Mannes School of Music, and Columbia Teachers College, and was a teaching artist with the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Program.
