The Flanders Symphony Orchestra is a flexible and enterprising orchestra that has been placing symphonic music at the heart of society for more than 65 years. With their characteristic transparent sound and versatile repertoire, the 60 talented musicians strive to inspire wonder both inside and outside the concert hall. As a pioneer in talent development and artistic innovation, the orchestra offers talented musicians ample opportunities to explore new musical paths together.

For the past six seasons, the orchestra has been led by Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska. In January 2026, Martijn Dendievel will take over the role of chief conductor. Anchored in Flanders, but with an open view of the world, the orchestra combines local involvement with international ambitions. From its own concert series in Ghent, Antwerp and Bruges to prestigious concerts and artistically innovative projects at renowned concert venues at home and abroad.

The Flanders Symphony Orchestra is supported by the Flemish government and the City of Ghent and is the orchestra in residence at the Muziekcentrum De Bijlok in Ghent.
