The Philharmonia

Co-Principal Viola (no. 2) and Viola no. 3

(a tiempo completo)
The Philharmonia is seeking highly qualified candidates for the positions of Co-Principal (No. 2) Viola and No. 3 Viola. These positions involve sitting up and leading the section when required.

The Philharmonia is a world class symphony orchestra for the 21st century, lead by Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali and our titled conductors Marin Alsop and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Based in London at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, leading a busy international touring schedule and resident in cities and at festivals across the UK, as well as streaming online, the Philharmonia creates thrilling performances for a global audience.

The Panel may request candidates to submit a video in advance of an in-person audition, consisting of selected excerpts as specified below. These candidates will be notified by 20 March 2026 and will have until 3 April 2026 to submit the video. Any candidate who feels that their application would be supported by this video may include it with their application. Candidates with less relevant experience are strongly encouraged to use this option.

In-person auditions will be held at the Philharmonia Offices, 6 Chancel Street, London, on the 1 and 29 May 2026. Upon request, video auditions may be offered as a substitute for applicants who for financial, geographical, or accessibility reasons cannot attend an audition in the UK on these dates.
