Section Violin
The Montgomery Symphony Orchestra announces Section Violin auditions for the 2026-2027 season.
Submission Deadline: October 2, 2026 at 11:59pm CST
Recorded Auditions: No live round is planned for this audition cycle. Positions will be offered for the 2026-2027 season for a 1-year term following review of submitted recordings. Renewals and/or permanent positions may be offered at the end of the 2026-2027 season.
Section Positions Available:
Violin 1 (3)
Compensation:
• $100 per service approximately 40 services per season)
• Mileage/travel reimbursement ($0.32 per mile up to $350 maximum)
• Housing available for musicians traveling 100 miles or more.
Season Structure:
Montgomery Symphony Orchestra’s 2026-2027 Season includes
• One (1) Special Event featuring Yo-Yo Ma
• Four (4) Masterworks subscription programs
• Three (3) Pops programs including Joyce Caddell Holiday Pops, Film-in-Concert, and Jubilee (Memorial Day) Pops
• One (1) Education program

Please submit application and video recording of the audition excerpts listed below via https://app.getacceptd.com/montgomerysymphony.
Recording Rules:
• Record in one continuous take (no edits, cuts, or pausing)
• Use one camera angle that shows your full body the entire time
• If the video appears edited, the audition will be disqualified.
Violin
Solo: The exposition from the first movement of any standard Concerto or solo piece of your choice (5 minutes maximum)
Orchestral Excerpts (1st Violin Part):Beethoven: Overture to Leonore No. 3: Presto to letter I
Brahms: Symphony No. 4, Mvt. IV: 8 before letter B to letter D
Mozart: Symphony No. 35 “Haffner”, Mvt. I: Beginning to ms. 35
Strauss: Don Juan: Beginning to letter D
Mahler: Symphony No. 1, Mvt IV: Reh. 16 to 19
