Violin:

Probably French 4/4 violin, c.1900. Maker unknown.

Precio: 980 GBP
An interesting instrument - probably French but with some German features - from the turn of the 20th century. There is no label so the identity of the maker is unknown.

The violin appears to have undergone extensive repairs in its life - evident in patches of different materials and different types of varnish. There is some evidence of ‘historical’ woodworm, possibly from the original wood being on the ‘green’ side when the instrument was constructed. There is a ‘dent’ at the base of the scroll and a wolf tone on B, which is greatly improved by the use of a wolf eliminator (see picture).

Despite this, the instrument plays well and has been used fairly extensively in amateur orchestral playing for at least the past 30 years. It has also seen its current owner successfully through Grade 8 and DipABRSM examinations.

The current owner has decided to focus on woodwind playing and is therefore no longer playing violin.

The violin can be sent in a reliable Bam case.
