J&J Simpson Violin 1785
Stolen: 01 Sep 2005 - The String Shop in Tempe, Az
Descripción del instrumento:
My J&J Simpson violin (England 1785) was brought to The String Shop in Tempe, Az to put a sound post back in. The repair person, Terry (Terrance) McShane called me and told me that he dropped a tool and part of the f hole broke off and he was going to repair it. I repeatedly called the shop to follow up with the repair and left numerous voicemails but never received a call back. I tried going to the shop numerous times but it was always closed. The shop is now permanently closed and I never got my violin back. The violin has a darker varnish color, has "SIMPSON" stamped on the back, has some wear on the wood under the bridge, the peg holes were previously re-alligned and you can see where the holes were filled in, has decorative rosewood pegs and a rosewood tailpiece with gold accents that I specifically hand picked. I have old original paperwork on the violin: an appraisal from 1926 and a letter and bill of sale of the violin in 1936.
