Percussion Tutor
(a tiempo parcial)
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational percussion teacher with an enthusiastic and inclusive approach to educating young musicians.
Our music centre is based at Morley College, near London Waterloo, and teaching takes place on 10 Saturdays per term.
This role, offered on a self-employed contract, currently involves 6 hours of work, including individual tuition for students from beginner to advanced level, and leading two department ensembles. The successful candidate will be a versatile percussion tutor, confident in teaching orchestral percussion and drum-kit, and ideally able to lead group work that embraces global percussion traditions. This timetable may be adjusted depending on departmental needs and the experience of the successful candidate.
CYM offers music provision to talented young people from all backgrounds in a thriving musical environment. As a Centre for Advanced Training under the Department for Education’s National Grant for Music and Dance, CYM is a key provider of instrumental, vocal and ensemble tuition in London. Our Saturday school and holiday courses offer a sustained and progressive route from the early stages of learning through to music college entrance. Children start on our primary years programme (age 5 upwards) progressing to the full programme (aged 8 to 18).
Interviews will take place on Saturday 28th June, with a view to a start date of 20th September 2025.
CYM is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and thorough reference checks.
