International Summer Academy 2027 – Conducting Course
7–15 August 2027, Saitama Arts Theater, Japan
Director: Naoki Sugiyama
An intensive 9-day conducting masterclass devoted to Romantic symphonies and orchestral songs by Mahler, Wagner, Wolf and R. Strauss. Training progresses from piano and ensemble sessions to chamber orchestra and full professional symphony orchestra. All active participants conduct in public concerts and receive a certificate. Approximately 15–20 minutes of podium time per participant per day. The outstanding 3–5 participants conduct a complete work or major symphonic movement(s) in the final Master Concert.
Repertoire includes Mahler Symphony No. 5 and orchestral songs; Wagner Tristan Prelude & Liebestod and Siegfried Idyll; Wolf Italian Serenade and orchestral songs; R. Strauss orchestral songs.
20 places (max. 22). Tuition from €1,200 (Early Bird); student fee €900 (age 25 or under, max. 5 places). Registration opens 1 August 2026.
