Job Description
REPORTS TO: York Symphony Orchestra's Executive Director and Music Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Chorusmaster shall be responsible for preparing choral works to be performed with the York Symphony Orchestra and approved community engagement programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct weekly preliminary chorus rehearsals.
Assist the YSO conductor at joint orchestral/choral rehearsals with matters such as diction and balance.
Recruit, audition, and select persons for membership in the chorus.
Program, rehearse, and conduct supplemental chorus only performances should any given season allow for such.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Exceptional musicianship and conducting skills.
Extensive knowledge of choral literature, vocal pedagogy, Latin, Italian, German, and French.
A minimum of three years of educational, church, or professional conducting experience.
Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills as well as a strong record of being a team player.
Demonstrated leadership skills.

COMPENSATION:
Salary: $8,000 - $10,000 Annually commensurate with experience
