Symphonic set of Yamaha 600 Series timpani

A rare opportunity to acquire a full symphonic set (model numbers TP-623, TP-626, TP-629 and TP-632) of Yamaha 600 series copper pedal timpani.

These timpani feature full suspended, deep-drawn copper parabolic bowls, polished on the inside for maximum projection, excellent tonal characteristics and a wide tuning range. Bought new around 1986, one owner, light use only. Only modification has been to fit Ludwig heads to the 26”, 29” and 32”. Yamaha’s 32” timpani are particularly fine instruments with a glorious tone and a huge range.

They come with homemade varnished solid plywood felted head protectors with leather buckles for the larger three, and the standard Yamaha protector for the 23”, as well as Mushroom covers for all four (these show signs of wear consistent with age but remain perfectly serviceable). The drums themselves are in excellent full working condition, though would benefit from some routine oiling to the mechanism having been unused for several years.
