The Faculty of Music seeks to appoint an Assistant Teaching Professor in Performance (0.3 FTE) to act as Co-Director of Performance, starting on 16 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a permanent post.
The successful candidate will be an instrumentalist with a high-profile international performing career.

The appointee will contribute to the Faculty's performance provision by teaching Performance seminars and related classes, focusing on aspects of performance relevant to professional practice, primarily within the Western art music tradition. They will assist in organising and delivering both curricular and extra-curricular performance activities. Responsibilities include helping curate established partnerships that provide teaching and chamber-music opportunities for talented instrumentalists, and overseeing aspects of the Faculty's instrument collection.

Working with the other Co-Director of Performance, the postholder will chair and moderate the annual recital examinations (normally involving around 120 students) and, with administrative support, manage student recitals. The role also includes outreach activities, coordination of Faculty and external performance prizes and nominations, and participation in committee and EDI work. The position is teaching-focused and does not include a research component.
