Solti International Conducting Competition 2026

From 1-10 October 2026, the Solti International Conducting Competition will take place, thanks to collaboration between Müpa Budapest and Hungarian public media, offering an opportunity for conductors aged 18-35.
Following a preliminary selection process, the competitors will be evaluated in three rounds before an international jury in Hungary’s top concert halls: the Concert Hall of the Kodály Centre in Pécs, the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy of Music, and the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall at Müpa Budapest.
The competitors will work with the Pannon Philharmonic from Pécs, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
The patron of the competition is Ken-Ichiro- Kobayashi. The members of the jury are Pinchas Steinberg (chairman of the jury), Roberto Abbado, Tibor Bogányi, Mei-Ann Chen, Mikko Franck, Domonkos Héja, Roberto Paternostro, Anu Tali, and György Vashegyi.
Application is open from 1 December 2025 to 20 March 2026.
