English Horn (cor anglais) Professor, Oboe Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music (Madrid, Spain)

The Reina Sofía School of Music announces an opening for the position of English horn (cor anglais) Professor within the Oboe Chair (Fundación Damm), led by Professor Lucas Macías.
The Oboe Chair will have 5 students in the 2026–27 academic year. The English horn (cor anglais) professor’s responsibilities include:
- Approximately 90 hours per year of teaching collaboration, expandable depending on needs and prior written agreement with the School.
- Providing one hour of joint work per student within the English horn (cor anglais) course module, with scheduling agreed in advance.
- Availability to attend concerts and activities outside teaching hours, both within and outside the School premises.
- Participation in orchestral repertoire exam panels (mock tests), held in January and April.
- Participation in entrance audition panels for the Chair, held in March.
- Developing technique, sound, and integrated musical skills within English horn (cor anglais) repertoire in a high-performance environment.
- Encouraging students’ self-critical thinking and initiative in individualized study through detailed score analysis.
- Providing guidance on stylistically appropriate interpretation of repertoire.
- Participation in Chair faculty meetings once per trimester.
- Providing constructive feedback and student evaluations quarterly. Being qualified to sign official grading records annually.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Degree: Spanish Higher Degree / Bachelor’s degree in performance or an officially recognized equivalent in Spain.
Experience: Teaching experience at high-performance institutions will be valued, especially at undergraduate or master’s level in higher artistic education.
Languages: Intermediate level of spoken and written English and Spanish.
PROFESSIONAL STATUS
Contract type: Self-employed (freelance). Compensation: From €60 gross/hour, depending on profile and experience.
INTERVIEWS AND AUDITIONS: To be scheduled between May 22–24.
