75,000 - 85,000 AUD p/year
Salary range AUD $76,854 - $84,088. This position is only open to Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Australia, or New Zealand Citizens. If applicants are unable to travel to Hobart, the TSO will accept recorded auditions.
KEY DATES
- Applications open: Tuesday 16 September 2025
- Excerpts released for live auditions: Wednesday 22 October 2025, or four weeks prior to a confirmed recording date
- Applications close: Wednesday 5 November 2025, 4pm
- Final deadline for recorded submissions: Two days following a confirmed recording date, but no later than Wednesday 12 November 2025
- Audition date: Wednesday 19 November 2025
- Start date: Late January 2026
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
All set works to be performed with piano accompaniment
Either Hoffmeister Viola Concerto in D Major OR Stamitz Viola Concerto in D Major, 1st movement and cadenza if applicable – must be performed with piano accompaniment
AND
Either Bartok Viola Concerto OR Walton Viola Concerto OR Hindemith Der Schwanendreher. 1st movement only of any of these concertos - must be performed with piano accompaniment

All orchestral excerpts
