Cello Bow:

Rare opportunity: beautiful German master cello bow, made ca. 1930 by Friedrich (aka 'Fritz') Meinel

Price: matter of negotiation
I acquired this bow from a former long-time member of the "Gewandhausorchester Leipzig". Its stick’s flexibility and strength, its weight (79.62 g.) and its center of mass (8.94") afford superior playing characteristics, mighty sound projection and brilliance ‒ equal to more costly French bows.

Serious potential buyers can borrow the bow free of charge.

Friedrich ("Fritz") MEINEL (1885-1962) was a student of W. A. PFRETZSCHNER, and he worked for many years with Franz A. NÜRNBERGER II in Markneukirchen (see last photo of MEINEL in the Nürnberger workshop; courtesy of Christian A. Nürnberger). From 1918 on, he ran his own workshop in Markneukirchen with great success. MEINEL’s bows are artistically made ‒ the NÜRNBERGER influence can be seen in the frog and the head of his bows ‒, the result of years of meticulous study and practice working alongside renowned German master bow makers.
