Fine English Viola by Wilf Saunders ~ Lionel Tertis model ~ No. 137 "Venetto" 1992

Beautifully crafted 16.5-inch viola made by renowned British luthier Wilf Saunders in 1992 ~ Number 137 ~ "Venetto"*

The viola is based on the Lionel Tertis Model with an upper bout of 8¼ inches, a lower bout of 10¼ inches, and a string length of 15 inches, offering a comfortable yet resonant playing experience.

The viola features a deep red/brown varnish that highlights Saunders' elegant craftsmanship and produces a warm, balanced tone with excellent projection and responsiveness across all registers.

The viola has recently been worked on to ensure comfort when playing and is currently fitted with a tall, Berber chin rest and Wittner Fine Tune Pegs. Complimentary oblong Concord case with room for 4 bows.

*Selling as I am going to the dark side of the clef…wanting to play a smaller model to ease the transition between playing the viola and…violin(!)
