For years, the orchestra has been at the forefront of Nordic orchestras and has received high praise for its recordings and performances both at home and abroad. The orchestra holds about 100 concerts every year, including subscription concerts with world-renowned conductors and soloists. We take great pride in our ambitious educational initiatives. Each year, thousands of students from elementary to secondary school levels attend our concerts. The orchestra also organizes a variety of educational projects for music students who wish to pursue a career as professional musicians. Eva Ollikainen has been the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director since 2020. The Iceland Symphony is the resident orchestra in Reykjavik´s award-winning Harpa Concert Hall.
