Double Bass Tutti

The Vratsa Symphony Orchestra announces an opening for the position of Double Bass Tutti for one year with a possibility of extension.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated musician to join our double bass section permanently. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent technical ability, a rich and versatile sound, strong ensemble and solo skills, and a commitment to musical excellence.

Some of the requirements are: advanced studies in music (bachelor or master in a conservatory or equivalent education), sight-reading and ensemble performance skills, the ability to adapt to different styles and repertoire (classical, romantic, contemporary), and proven orchestral experience or equivalent professional performance background will be taken in consideration but these are not mandatory.

The audition is divided into three rounds:

1st Round. VIDEO SUBMISSION - Solo piece + excerpts*
Solo piece:
- G. Bottesini: Double Bass Concerto No. 2, in D major – 1st movement [Exposition: only from the beginning until bar 91].
OR
- S. Koussevitsky: Double Bass Concerto, Op.3 - 1st movement [Exposition: only from the beginning till 4 bars before “Alla breve” mm. 82].

Excerpts:
- Brahms: Symphony No. 2, 1st movement - from letter E to F
- Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4, 1st movement - mm. 41 to 90
- Schubert: Symphony No. 9, 3rd movement - from letter C to D
- Beethoven: Symphony No. 5, 3rd movement - beginning to mm. 100 and Trio (without repetition).

2nd Round. ONLINE INTERVIEW

Final Round. TRIAL PERIOD
