French double bass from the first part of XIX century, made by François Jacques Barbé whose mark bears on the top of the back, top in 2 parts of spruce with shimmering effect, flat back in 2 parts of light curly maple, head and ribs made of plain maple. String length 104.5 cm Instrument in very good condition. Responsive and colorful sound.
