Cello:
Amédée Dieudonné, French, 90 years old.
Precio: £10,950
A fine old French cello made by Amédée Dieudonné in 1935 in a particularly good state of preservation. There are no cracks or repairs and it has recently been serviced/valued by Tim Toft Violins, the work including a quality bridge, a set of Wittner pegs and a written valuation. The length of the back is 76.3 cm and the varnish is a characteristic orange-brown colour.
Born in 1890, Amédée Dieudonné learned violin making with Gustave Bazin, son of bow maker Charles Nicolas. He worked for the Darché firm in Brussels before settling in his hometown of Mirecourt around 1920. Some of these bear Dieudonné's label, which he often signed, while others bear workshop labels. Dieudonné worked steadily through 1950s and died in 1960.
This is a great sounding cello with a focused, powerful and beautiful tone.
