Apply now for the 2026 Verbier Festival Orchestra! The VFO sets the gold standard for the training of orchestral players and for 25 years it has been a career launchpad for many of today’s best musicians.
Programme dates: 29 June 2026 – 3 August 2026
Repertoire highlights: Messiaen Turangalîla-Symphony; Strauss Ein Heldenleben; Bruckner Symphony N° 7; Rachmaninoff Symphony N° 2; Mahler Symphony N° 6
Conductors: Esa-Pekka Salonen, Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, Lahav Shani, Gianandrea Noseda, Vasily Petrenko
VFO members are coached by principal players from leading orchestras, including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
Applicants can either apply for a live audition or submit an application by video.
Live audition application deadline: 11 December 2025
Video audition application deadline: 16 January 2026
Application Fee: EUR 75
The Verbier Festival will cover the cost of return travel (i.e., both the arrival and return journeys) from each musician’s place of residence to Verbier, capped at a certain amount - please check the application guidelines for more information regarding this.
The Verbier Festival also covers all training/tuition costs, provides lodging, and lunches and dinners.
