AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT Orchestral Musician – Double Bass (Tutti)

The State Opera – Plovdiv announces an audition for a full-time orchestral position for Double Bass
(Tutti).
Candidate Requirements:
• Completed higher or secondary music education.
• Experience and proficiency in ensemble performance.
Audition Date and Venue:
June 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM
Chamber Hall, House of Culture "Boris Hristov", Plovdiv, Center, ul. "Gladston" 15, 4000
Audition Repertoire:
1. A solo piece of the candidate’s choice (with or without accompaniment).
2. Concerto by choice:
◦ Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf — Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra in E major
(1st movement with cadenza or 2nd and 3rd movements)
◦ Giovanni Bottesini — Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra No. 2 in B minor
◦ Serge Koussevitzky — Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra in E minor (1st movement and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd movements)
3. Orchestral excerpts:
◦ Mozart – The Marriage of Figaro, Overture
◦ Verdi – La forza del destino, Overture
◦ Beethoven – Symphony No. 5, 3rd movement
◦ Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, 4th movement
◦ Shostakovich – Symphony No. 5, 1st movement
◦ Verdi – Rigoletto, Grand Number 3
◦ Mahler – Symphony No. 1, 3rd movement
