Are you looking to gain valuable experience in community arts and participation project management within a music or higher education environment?

The Royal Academy of Music has a vacancy for an Assistant in our acclaimed Community and Participation department, with effect from September 2026.

Open Academy works strategically with partners including music education hubs, community settings and arts organisations to deliver a range of creative projects that connect Academy students with the world around them.

You will work closely with Open Academy staff, supporting the smooth delivery of departmental classes, projects and events both on and offsite. You will deal with enquiries from staff, students, freelancers, partner organisations and the public and provide general administrative support.

This is a professional development position and would be an ideal opportunity for someone looking for their first role in arts administration. You will have a good general education and an enthusiasm to contribute to our busy team. You will also ideally have a particular interest in community and participation activities and some musical knowledge.

A recruitment pack for this vacancy can be downloaded from our website.

Completed applications must be received by 23:59 on Sunday 14 June 2026.
Interviews will be held in person at the Academy on Monday 29 June 2026.

Enquiries or applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Academy values diversity and welcomes your application.

We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, and candidates with disabilities because we would like to increase the representation of these groups in these roles. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to greater results for students.
