For sale is a rare Albert Cooper silver flute, No. 143, crafted in 1964 for William Bennett (Wibb). Fully overhauled in February 2025, this flute delivers a rich, powerful tone with a strong lower octave and versatile finesse. Includes original case (needs minor mending).
Specifications:
• Silver, open G#, D trill (instead of C# trill), low B foot with smooth C/C#/B transition
• Overhauled February 2025, Straubinger Pads, excellent condition
• Rich, big sound with dynamic range and sweetness
About Albert Cooper:
A legendary British flute maker, Cooper revolutionised flute design with his Cooper Scale, optimising tone hole placement for superior intonation. This scale forms the basis of Brannen Brothers’ Brannen-Cooper® flutes, where Cooper was Vice President of Research. Cooper made only 80 C flutes, making No. 143 a prized instrument for players and collectors.
