The viola has a full, rich sound and carries very well. It has an even tone across the strings and responds well, making it a comfortable instrument to play. It has a good range of colour and would be suited for both advancing players or enthusiasts alike, seeking a warm, rich sound. It has had only one owner, purchased directly from the maker, and is in excellent condition. Trials can be arranged in London.
About the maker: Based in Australia, James W. Robinson graduated from Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria (Cremona, Italy) in 1973, under the tutelage of G.B. Morassi and F. Bissolotti. Following his studies, Robinson worked making his own instruments as well as restoring many fine instruments for violin houses in New York, Boston, London, and Tokyo. His instruments have been the recipient of four international awards, including a silver medal for viola tone in 2014 at the VSA competition, Indianapolis, USA.
