Double Bass:
German 7/8 Double Bass with Knobel (Erfurt) Repair Lable
Price: 11,000 £
German 7/8 size double bass with internal labels from Eduard Meyer, Herford (1955) and a repair label by H. Rainer Knobel, Geigenbaumeister, Erfurt (2001).
Recently serviced by a luthier in 2024, including new bridge and new endpin.
Originally built as a 4-string bass, later adapted for 5-string configuration. It is currently set up and played as a 4-string, but can be configured either way depending on the player’s preference.
Produces a warm, resonant sound with strong projection, suitable for orchestral playing and advanced study.
