Instrumental Tutor/s (Piano)
Chetham’s School of Music is seeking Instrumental Tutor/s (Piano) to join the internationally renowned specialist music school located in Manchester city centre. Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English speaking world and a world-class concert venue all in the heart of Manchester.
The Job
• We are seeking exceptional Tutors of Piano with proven pedagogical experience at the highest of standards. You will be committed to the education and musical development of talented young people (aged 8-18).
• These roles will focus on two distinct areas:
1) 1-2-1 tuition (2nd study piano students) teaching in the region of 20 hours per week. This can be scheduled as required within the main school day (Monday – Friday). These hours could be split between more than one tutor.
2) Group tuition (classical improvisation) teaching initially 7 hours per week, on Wednesdays (08.30am – 4.30pm).
• The ideal candidates will have a significant depth of experience in developing students’ holistic musical education.
• Chetham’s believes in creating robust, rounded and relevant musicians of the future. We value tutors who share our aim to support students in achieving musical and personal breadth, in tandem with technical proficiency.
• Starting September 2026 (subject to recruitment checks).

• Hourly rate dependent on experience.

When applying, applicants should state how many of the above hours and which focus they are applying for. Candidates will need to be flexible with regards to annual hours allocations, which necessarily change dependent upon student intake. Allocations are term-time only, and will vary in duration dependent on the nature of the activity.
