【The Music between the Beats】Sigmund Thorp Conducting Masterclass

Location:Songyun Choir Rehearsal Room, Concert Hall: 1980 Chamber Music Ensemble
Maestro: Sigmund Thorp
Course Content
Conducting Practice with Ensemble (10 sessions over 5 days)
Participants will conduct and rehearse pieces with string orchestra . Each session allocates around 20 min per participant.
Conducting Technique Workshop: “Anatomy Exercise”
“Stop the beat in order to release your music”
Final Performance
Each participant will conduct a selected piece in a final performance and receive a certificate of completion.
※Total conducting time per participant: app. 85-100 minutes
Repertoire
• Tchaikovsky: Serenade for String Orchestra, Op.48
• Grieg: Holberg Suite, Op.40
• Beethoven: Coriolan Overture, Op.62
• Mahler: Symphony No. 5, mvt. IV( Adagietto)

Active Participants: Open to experienced conductors; 8-10 selected by video audition.
Observers: Up to 20 participants
