Research Retreat: Cellists & Composers in Co-Creation

Draw inspiration from visual art and collaborate with fellow cellists and composers towards a public performance of contemporary sound.

Over four immersive days, participants work closely together, guided by an experienced team of musicians, in a unique space where music and fine art enter into dialogue.

The retreat culminates in a public Research Performance, where artists present their work and bring the exhibition to life through sound.

Cellists work on newly composed pieces by the participating composers, alongside their own contemporary repertoire (written after 1950). Masterclasses support the refinement and development of individual artistic projects.

Composers explore the background of the exhibition together with the artist, shaping experiences, thoughts, and interpretations into contemporary sound.
